Bruce Greaves born in Manurewa, Auckland, New Zealand, eldest son of the legend
Rusty Greaves, a man who broke the way for other country singers from all around New Zealand to perform in Nashville TN U.S.A. Himself performing 13 times on the Grand Ole Opry. Tex Ritter had invited Rusty Greaves to sing on the Grand Ole Opry and joined the C.M.A Board. Bruce like his father, left home when he was 10 years old and lived with his Uncle and Aunty on a farm in the far north of New Zealand in a town called Kaitaia. Bruce learnt to be a farmer, milking cows, breaking in land, feeding and caring for the animals. While doing this he also went to school to further his education, it was a hard life but he enjoyed it. Bruce became an expert with horses, a top rodeo rider and breaker. He also bread and trained thoroughbred horses. At the age of 17 he came back to Auckland and became an apprentice cabinet maker. Then in becoming a builder with his father, learnt the art of building houses. Now having his own successful building company for the last 30 years.
Rusty Greaves started the first Country Music club in New Zealand in the 1950's then in the early 1970's they started to spread round New Zealand. Bruce started going to the club every week where he learnt to get up on stage and sing in front of an audience. He learnt to play a guitar by watching others, going home and practicing the chords he saw. At the age of 19 he formed his own band called the 'Trend Setters'. The band was very successful booked out every week for 15 years playing in the R.S.A's sport, socials, weddings etc. Bruce became a very good yodeler and went on to win The New Zealand Golden Guitar awards. Then he was off to Australia where he sang in most of the league clubs, where he most deffinatly became an all round entertainer.
Bruce was married at the age of 21 had 2 children but the marriage did not work out and was divorced. He then met his loving wife Anne, they have now been married for 28 years and have 4 children. Bruces' eldest son Jason is now recording in Australia another very good singer, of whom Bruce is very proud of. Bruce is also the eldest son of 14 children, who all sing, five of whom are also professional entertainers. His brother Kevin Greaves is a singer in Nashville TN U.S.A for the last 11 years got to #2 on the charts and #1 in Europe.
Bruce made his first c.d called COUNTRY AT HEART 3 years ago a very good traditional country music c.d. This year Bruce decided to go to the U.S.A where he stayed with his brother Kevin in Calafornia. While there he sang at clubs with Kevin. Then they both went to Nashville.
There Bruce met some of the best talent in the world and sang at some of the clubs where he was a big success. While there he was able with the help of his brother gathered up some of these talented musician's and with some of the best song writers in U.S.A headed off into Studio D. Where he spent the next week, fifteen hours each day recording his next c.d called 'THE INVISIBLE MAN.' This c.d was given a high applause for being a well produced c.d, where every song is a good song eight of these 12 songs being new releases. This c.d is a must to have in your country selection. Bruce goes on tour again in January to the South Island and then to Australia. travel to U.S.A where he will make his next c.d.
